This place has been on my bucket list for a while now. We finally got our kayaks out and en route to this beautiful hidden waterfall tucked back into the cliffs and lake of Grayson, Kentucky.
Our kayaks have been our best purchase of the summer, by far. Without them, we would’ve never been able to see this amazing surprise.
We use these Pelican kayaks here, nothing fancy.
We drove to this tiny place called Clifty Creek Boat Ramp to put our kayaks into the channel of Grayson Lake. I had never seen so many kayaks in a lake before and everyone had one thing they were looking for: the hidden waterfall. If you go, there will probably be someone kayaking to the same spot and they’ll be sure to help you find it. It is about a 2 mile paddle from the boat ramp so get your arms prepared. But it’s so worth it!
Start by going right from the ramp. Along the way you’ll be surrounded by beautiful rock cliffs, greenery, and areas to stop and take a swim. Follow the channel for about 2 miles until you come to a split, then turn left. It will look as if nothing is behind the rocks and trees, but you’ll be in for a treat. You’ll maneuver through tight quarters between rocks until you finally make it back to the falls.
